Dear Nevada Senators, Members of Congress, and Washoe County Commissioners.
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the recent Title IX ruling that the Biden administration usuped the U.S. Congress by expanding the plain meaning of “on the basis of sex” discrimination to implicate sexual orientation and gender identity. As a citizen of Nevada, I believe it is imperative for our state to stand against such unlawful measures that threaten the rights and safety of individuals.
Title IX was established to ensure equal access to education and protect against discrimination based on sex. However, the recent ruling appears to undermine these fundamental principles by Forcing any education institution receiving federal funds to admit biological males identifying as females to women’s sporting events, and allows a student’s chosen gender identity to replace his or her biological sex when deciding which bathroom/pronouns he or she uses or which athletic team to participate in. This systemically disadvantages female students in schools now forced to compete against biological males as well as erodes student privacy by permitting biological males use female restrooms and to undress in otherwise sex-separated, intimate facilities reserved for biological females.
I urge you, as our state's leader, to take a firm stand against this unjust ruling. It is essential to protect the rights and well-being of all individuals, especially those who may be vulnerable to discrimination and harassment. I believe that Nevada has a responsibility to uphold the values of equality and justice for all its residents.
Furthermore, I encourage you to explore avenues for legal action or advocacy to challenge this ruling and ensure that Title IX protections are upheld in our state. This may involve collaborating with other state officials, educational institutions, advocacy groups, and legal experts to strategize and take appropriate measures.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I trust in your leadership to uphold the principles of fairness and equality in our state.
Sincerely,
By checking this box, I agree to the above letter as stated above.
